Maarch Courrier at the INPI: Wider Deployment and Registered Mail Management

L’Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle (INPI), actively takes part in developing and implementing public policy in the fields of intellectual property, support for innovation and business competitiveness, and the fight against counterfeiting.

INPI is a public administrative body, under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Economy, Industry, and Digital Affairs.

INPI’s teams, made up of more than 740 staff members, are spread across around twenty sites, the vast majority of them in France.

Their main missions are to:

Grant industrial property titles, patents, trademarks, and designs;
Welcome and support applicants;
Provide information on industrial property;
Adapt industrial property law and strengthen France’s influence;
Fight against counterfeiting.

Rolling out electronic mail management (GEC) across departments

INPI has been using Maarch Courrier since 2013 to track envelopes and mail received at its head office in Courbevoie, in order to distribute them to the relevant departments or sites.

Nearly one million pieces of mail have been logged since the start of the project, named SAFE.

Today, the goal is to distribute scanned mail across all departments so that staff can process it.

INPI also expressed the wish to modernize its registered mail management application and integrate its features into SAFE.

Version upgrade and registered mail slip management module: Maarch’s solution

To meet these requests, we proposed that INPI migrate its application to Maarch Courrier version 20.03 and implement registered mail management within it.

We therefore took advantage of this version upgrade to port the custom envelope/mail tracking feature to this version, and to add full registered mail issuance management to the Maarch Courrier standard offering, compatible with La Poste’s standards.

INPI can now issue its registered mail slips directly from Maarch Courrier, print them, and manage them through to dispatch and distribution.

This new building block added to Maarch Courrier makes it all the more the most complete electronic mail management tool on the market!

A Strategic Tool for Digital Transition

INPI plans to further develop the SAFE application by integrating new features based on user feedback, while also benefiting from the new features introduced with each version upgrade.

The Maarch Courrier tool plays an important role in the digitalization of INPI’s processes. The SAFE project, deployed since 2013, is a strategic tool for INPI’s mail processing center; its ongoing development and rollout to all staff will help support them through the digital transition of their activities.
