Maarch, a subsidiary of Xelians Group, accelerates its development with the acquisition of Document Image Solutions (DIS), a publisher and integrator of automated data reading and extraction solutions.

Paris, March 15, 2023 – Having enjoyed average organic growth of 30% per year for several years, Maarch (Xelians Group), a publisher of open software specialized in document management, is accelerating its development by acquiring Document Image Solutions (DIS), a publisher of automated data reading and extraction solutions.

This acquisition completes Maarch’s solution offering and allows Xelians Group, a key player in digital transition and document flow management, to bring in-house the key skills for automated processing of data contained in documents.

“It is with real pleasure that we welcome Alain and his team. We have known each other for about ten years and have worked together with trust and mutual respect that culminate here. We were eager to complete this transaction, which opens up exciting prospects and enriches a unique ecosystem in the market. We are also determined to tap into the region’s talent pool for our R&D. Finally, I would like to thank Jacques Thibon and Xelians Group for supporting us throughout this acquisition.”

DIS technologies dedicated to content analysis will strengthen Maarch’s solutions

Founded in Bidart (64) in 1998 by Alain du Boisdulier, an ESME engineer and Doctor of Engineering from Paris VI, DIS specializes in image processing and has developed robust, high-performance solutions, such as the SDP Mercure robot.

For several years already, Maarch and DIS had been working hand in hand on projects requiring advanced image processing operations. For major public- and private-sector clients, DIS’s technological solutions — optical character recognition (OCR), advanced file compression, Automatic Document Reading (LAD), Automatic Document Recognition (RAD) — enhanced the performance of Maarch’s solutions.

Throughout these collaborations, DIS’s products evolved to better align with Maarch’s technical architecture and philosophy, notably through their porting to Linux environments, increased use of open-source components, and the creation of web service interfaces.

The merger of the two entities paves the way for native content analysis integration across all Maarch solutions, and strengthens the robustness of its solutions in the document management market.

This acquisition of the intellectual property of DIS’s solutions was an essential prerequisite for open-sourcing the code of these solutions and reflects Maarch’s commitment to its Open Source policy.

Content recognition opens up valuable opportunities when integrated into a document management (GED) use context. The integration of DIS’s solutions into the group’s technology ecosystem thus promises innovations as significant as automatic document typing and routing suggestions, or automatic reading of their content.

The DIS teams are immediately operational within Maarch’s environments and reinforce the workforce, both in its R&D division and for its expertise, consulting, and integration work.

“We are delighted about this coming together, which will allow us to showcase the company’s achievements and expertise through Maarch and Xelians Group’s projects. Our past successes on joint projects with ministries and local authorities, along with the future vision of the products currently in development, reflect this shared ambition”

Alain du Boisdulier | Founder and Managing Director of DIS
