ProConnect: Sovereign Professional Authentication for the Public Sector

It is in this context that the ProConnect connector was launched — a professional authentication solution designed to meet the public service’s requirements for security, resource sharing, and interoperability.

A collaboration between public sector players and stakeholders

The ProConnect connector is the result of close collaboration between the DINUM, the SITIV, and the open-source publisher Maarch. This participative approach made it possible to test, refine, and validate the solution in real-world contexts, with the constant goal of meeting concrete needs on the ground.

ProConnect: an operational response to local authorities’ needs

With ProConnect, local authorities benefit from:

• Unified access via a single professional identifier,
• Smooth, secure authentication compliant with ANSSI requirements,
• Simplified interoperability between services and software,
• A reduced administrative burden related to user account management.
• The widespread adoption of single sign-on (SSO).

Hosted on SecNumCloud-certified infrastructure, ProConnect is part of a sovereign cybersecurity approach, while ensuring simple integration, as is the case within the Maarch Courrier solution.

A strategic lever for the open-source ecosystem

One of ProConnect’s major contributions lies in its native compliance with open standards (such as OpenID Connect), making it easier to adopt among open-source publishers. They can now align with government standards, while retaining their agility and transparency.

SITIV: a driving force on the ground in experimentation

SITIV, an inter-municipal association recognized for its commitment to Free Software and digital resource sharing, played a key role in trialing ProConnect. By integrating the connector into Maarch Courrier, SITIV demonstrated the feasibility and concrete added value of such a solution for local authority staff.

In 2024, in partnership with the Direction interministérielle du numérique (DINUM) and the ANCT – Agence nationale de la cohésion des territoires, SITIV became the first Public Digital Service Operator (OPSN) to provide the national ProConnect identity. Thanks to the lasting relationships we have built with publishers of digital solutions dedicated to local authorities, we make it easier for them to connect to ProConnect for unified, secure access.

Already operational since May 22, it paves the way for the widespread adoption of unified authentication in the professional world, with direct benefits for users, IT departments, publishers, and public operators.
