DocuTech and Maarch jointly inaugurate the first archive operations site in Burundi

Partners for 4 years, Maarch and the member companies of Soft Center Group meet in Bujumbura for the inauguration of the first archiving and digitization site in Burundi, as well as to launch the group’s new entity created specifically to operate this site and integrate Maarch’s solutions: DocuTech.

DocuTech’s primary ambition is to provide Burundi with the means to preserve and secure high-value archives, for the benefit of the country’s businesses and administrations. This highly secure site, with access control and video surveillance, guarantees DocuTech’s clients preservation in line with the best practices of the profession.

Indeed, DocuTech applies all current international standards and recommendations to its site.

Always visionary and proactive, DocuTech supports its clients in their digital transformation by integrating a digitization and electronic archiving unit into the site.

Mr. Nicodème NYANDWI, Head of the National Archives, presented the fundamental concepts of archiving and outlined the state of archiving in the country.

It is in this context that Maarch provided technical and methodological support to the DocuTech teams, since the site is equipped with Maarch software. Note that this software was adapted to the Burundian context by an integrated team of Maarch and DocuTech engineers.

With the government having issued strong recommendations for the country’s IT tools to be controlled in-house, Maarch’s free and open-source solutions are naturally set for strong adoption in Burundi.

DocuTech’s engineers have gained extensive experience with the products over 4 years of partnership with Maarch, and are integrated into the developer community.

At the seminar on July 14, 2021, which brought together numerous archive and IT managers as well as representatives from various Burundian institutions, DocuTech presented its activities and hosted the conference.

Mr. Jean-Louis ERCOLANI, Founder & CEO of Maarch and member of the executive committee of the Xelians group, of which Maarch is part, gave a presentation on the importance placed on archive preservation and use in Europe. The Xelians group is the leading French player in the field.

After a lively session of thanks and questions and answers demonstrating participants’ interest in the subject, the assembly moved to the operations site on Avenue du Large for the ribbon-cutting by the Chairman and CEO of Soft Center Group, Mr. Désiré NSHIMIRIMANA, and the CEO of DocuTech, Ms. Annonciata NDIHOKUBWAYO.
